Zeng Jianyong (b. 1971, China), a prominent contemporary ink painter in China, studied at the Central Academy of Fine Arts and has achieved notable auction success in recent years. His work draws on traditional Chinese landscape compositions, employing techniques like chaffing, rubbing, dotting, and dyeing to craft intricate natural scenes.
Mastering Technique and Tradition
Using Yunlong paper, toner, and his unique “back-to-front” painting method, Zeng creates textured effects reminiscent of Song Dynasty paintings.
Hazy Landscapes with Contemporary Depth
His hazy southern landscapes exude warmth and depth, establishing him as a distinctive figure in Chinese contemporary art.
