About The Artwork
Everybody plays a part in our economy, regardless of the collar colour of the job. In this conceptual piece of her REFORMATION collection, Waheeda brings up the issue of job status discrimination. The colours represent the respective different collar jobs and the ill-fitting frames the wrong pre-conceived notions that each group has of the other. The discrimination faced by each group causes them to feel isolated and in turn for a class segregation to be formed between the different collars. However, in order for an economy to be run smoothly and efficiently, every job is important and it’s only when these different groups of people work together that the ideal society can be run, as is represented by the blend of colours in the perfectly-fitted frame.
