Prestige Art Gallery’s year-end exhibition, Seeing within Dreams, opened with a grand ceremony on the afternoon of November 18th. On this special occasion, we were honoured to invite Dato’ Seri Toh Soon Huat, Justice of peace, Chairman of Sian Chay Medical Institution , BBM(L), PVPA, Dr. Wu Wei, President of the Singapore-China Economic, Trade, Science, Culture and Education Exchange Association and founder of the Nanyang Graduate School of Public Administration of Nanyang Technological University, and Mr. David Li, President of the Singapore Zhejiang entrepreneurs Association, managing director of Horizonline Capital, to deliver speeches for the exhibition.
In their opening speeches, the guests expressed their appreciation and passion for the development of art from the perspectives of art charity, academia and business, giving us great encouragement and inspiration.
Dato’ Seri Toh Soon Huat delivered a speech
Dato’ Seri Toh Soon Huat said that the inspiration for art comes from our thinking about the world, our perception of beauty and our experience of life. Artworks are expressions of thoughts, conveyances of emotions, and can stimulate people’s inner energy. Dato’ Seri Toh Soon Huat hopes that artists will not only promote the development of art, but also actively participate in social welfare causes, and contribute to building happy families and a harmonious society.
Dr. Wu Wei delivered a speech
Dr. Wu Wei put forward some important views on cross-cultural communication. He emphasised that culture is the soul of a country and a nation, and we should respect the culture of every nation. Art is also one of the forms of cultural expression. He proposed that cross-cultural communication should follow the “5A principle” – Accept, Adapt, Adjust, Accommodate, and Appreciate. Singapore is a multi-ethnic and diverse society, and it is because of its inclusiveness that it has achieved today’s prosperity and development.
President David Li delivered a speech
President David Li shared some of his feelings in his immigrant life. He said that art is a common language of mankind, and art can touch our hearts and make us have many special insights. Different cultures and arts add different values to our lives, just like the goals and meanings of life that we have been looking for, making life rich and colourful, shining and bright, and ultimately finding ourselves.
The opening ceremony venue was filled with guests
Prestige Art Gallery also believes that an active art community requires positive cooperation and support from within and outside the industry. In the future, we will hold more inspiring exhibitions, workshops and art lectures, interact with friends who love art, and provide a platform for artists, curators, collectors and art enthusiasts to find like-minded friends, exchange ideas, and contribute to the prosperity of Singapore’s art ecology.
The collectors came to view the art exhibition
The theme of the Seeing within Dreams exhibition is not only the dream and vision of Prestige Art Gallery, but also the shared belief of all of us. Since its establishment in 2019, our mission has not only been to become a gallery, but also to support and promote the development of the entire art ecosystem in Singapore. We are willing to be a bridge between art, capital and charitable causes, using the power of art to solve social problems, promote cultural understanding, and make our home a better place. We firmly believe that artworks not only have aesthetic and economic value, but also carry enormous social, cultural and emotional value. They have the ability to inspire, heal, promote educational creativity and cross-border connections.

About the exhibition
Prestige Art Gallery is honored to presents a trio of international artists of Asian descent across artistic practices with curator Liu YingMei. These artists are part of the vibrant Asian diaspora living across western cities. Jumaadi (b. 1973), an Indonesian-Australian artist, is based in both Yogyakarta and Sydney, Australia. Pearl C Hsiung (b. 1973), Taiwanese-American, and Sarah Lee (b.1990), Korean-American, are currently both based in Los Angeles, USA. Thriving in their own individualistic styles, they encompass a certain voice and identity, inevitably taking inspiration from their environments they inhabit. Each has a story-telling quality to their contemplation.
